  • 1/2 stick salted Butter
  • 1 to 1-1/2 cups heavy cream or half and half
  • 3 pounds Yukon gold or russet potatoes
  • 6 fresh garlic cloves smashed
  • 1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Ground Black pepper, to taste

Instructions for the Mashed Potatoes

In a large pot, cover potatoes and garlic with water by 1 inch. Bring to a boil, add 1 tablespoon kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, and granulated garlic; simmer until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain well.

Put the potatoes and garlic back in the pot and cook over low heat to evaporate the rest of the water. Mash in the butter with a potato masher. Add the heavy cream in stages until the desired consistency is reached—season with salt and pepper.

*Add more heavy cream, half and half or whole milk to the Mashed Potatoes, if needed, for thinning

* Leaving the skins on gives them a more rustic look.
